Chickens coming home to roost.

Kean does not deserve this vile abuse.Kean does not deserve this vile abuse.Whatever you feel about Steve Kean the manager you have to admire the way he has stood up and been counted.

The abuse he has endured from the terraces is an irrepairable relationship. No matter how many games he wins from now on to the end of the season he will not be welcome at Rovers and it’s a case of when not if.

But the Blackburn owners have shown themselves up to be what they are not - and that is football people.

There are always football managers who will have arguments with their chairmen. But compared to the fantastic salaries that the top Premiership players are being paid at the moment those managers who are plying their trade and being reasonably successful at it are entitled to argue for a bigger share of the pie in personal renumeration or resources to be put at their disposal.

Of course I’m not arguing that a club should stick it’s neck on the line just because of the say so of it’s manager. After all it’s not the managers cash to spend at the end of the day.

If a club like Liverpool get’s 50 million for one of it’s star players and then promptly spends it on two more is that good business or bad? 50 Million off the debt is big money compared with the overhead that comes with star player wages.

Sam Allardyce is a very solid manager. Why Blackburn dispensed with his services can only be due to a boardroom dust up.

Venkys should have sucked it up and not rocked the boat at a time when they were doing anything but sticking to the knitting.

Allardyce has a track record of consistent performance and a reliance on technology to monitor the performance of his players. He may not have a spectacular and charismatic personality but he sure as hell knows his stuff. This is someone who will always get the most out of your resources.

Randy Lerner is another one who underestimated the influence of his manager. Villa have endured a very patchy time and a far cry from the consistent days of O’Neill

It doesn’t matter how good Kean is. The players know that every time they walk on the pitch they are going to get the bird if it goes against them and it transmits to negative self confidence.

Look at the lift Dalglish gave the club when he was appointed and you will see what confidence can do for you.

Look at how Hodgson was derided for trying to fit talented players into a defensive minded straightjacket.

Steve Kean is riding a baptism of fire at the moment and he deserves better than that. The owners need to show some balls and put him out of his misery. But it’s too late to start pulling Irons out of fires.
