Alastair Cook has hit form in the nick of timeAlastair Cook has hit form in the nick of timeCook leads by example.

You don't need to be a huge hitter to be a successful one day player. Just see the example of Alastair Cook who hit two wonderful centuries against Pakistan in the one day internationals.

It's a shame he has belatedly found form but found form he has and his strokeplay in the last two innings has been a masterclass. Now those pundits who voiced their disapproval when Cook succeeded the captaincy for the one dayers are being made to eat their words.

Peitersen could do worse than study Cook's approach for the last two games. Instead of trying to take the game to the opposition in the first few overs and blast himself out Cook has been happy to take stock of the situation and take a few overs to play himself in.

It does not matter that the first few power play overs are effectively wasted if you can get a top order batsman like Cook to play a huge innings.

It's a shame that Cook is already omitted from the two T20 games - it would be interesting to see his approach.

Pakistan looked like they might chase England down early in the last game but with Finn in outstanding form and a horrible tortured innings from Rehman contributing to their demise the Pakistanis will be looking to fight their way back and restore the balance in the next two games.

There are two more one day internationals to be played. What price an England Whitewash?

The form of the England team in the shorter form of the game is in stark contrast to the manner in which they approached the test series and highlights the inability to be able to pick up the Pakistani spin bowlers. Without Cook and his hundreds where would the England team be?

Jos Buttler has got to be given a chance to show the huge potential he has. England cannot lose the one day series so this has got to be the window to give him is opportunity. He is a very exciting player and one of the most promising talents we have in English cricket.

Let's give him a chance to see what he can do.

England to win the series 4-0 is 5/2 at Sky Bet
