Players in misguided attempt to support Suarez

Club is on a hiding to nothing by supporting Suarez.Club is on a hiding to nothing by supporting Suarez. Before I wade into the Suarez row lets have a quick recap of last nights football.

Manchester United thrashed a woeful Fulham 0-5 with Rooney scoring the best of the goals with a peach of a thirty yard rocket which arrowed into the right corner. However it wasn't all good for United as they lost both Phil Jones and Ashley Young to injury which will impact on an already depleted squad through the festive period.

City won again with a 3-0 demolition of Stoke and after twenty minutes of the first half it looked like there was only one team on the pitch as Stoke could not get near the ball.

Both defeated teams are paying for their efforts in trekking all over Europe in the Europa league. If your mid table team makes the Europa league next season make sure you don't put a bet on them repeating the trick.

Newcastle lost a late goal to go down to a home defeat and forgotten man Benayoun gave Arsenal all three points at Aston Villa with a late goal.

Everton claimed a much needed home win with a 1-0 victory against Swansea and what's this? Sunderland claimed their second away win of the season under new manager O'Neill even managing to score three in the process in a victory over WBA.

And so to the Liverpool game in which sky viewers were treated to the only goalless game of the night.

Not that it was a boring 0-0 draw. Liverpool, as usual of late, should have had the game dead and buried inside twenty minutes and Johnson, Kuyt, Skertel – Damn nearly the whole Liverpool team went close before Adam missed his penalty and you just knew it was going to be one of those games.

Liverpool need another striker in the January window and not just any old striker. They badly need a striker who can score goals because they've got the other type on the bench.

Wigan had a couple of long range efforts. Moses was impressive but their passing out from the back needs work as you can see a disaster occurring. It's one thing to play short pretty looking triangles out of defence but quite another having the talented players to keep the ball consistently under close control.

Liverpool's players all wore Suarez T shirts during the warm up and what a bunch of up their own arse pricks they looked. The guy gets an eight match ban for racially abusing an opponent and his mates hold two fingers up to the world. Dalglish has got this one wrong and whatever the ins and outs of the case Liverpool should take this one on the chin, serve the ban and move on.

Appealing will leave them in danger of having the ban extended and the FA is trying to draw a line in the sand by making an example of Suarez.

Evra doesn't come out of this covered in roses either but the main bone of contention is the way that the FA deals with these types of cases.

Their whole disciplinary process needs a radical overhaul. Everything works so slowly and they leave themselves wide open to inflammatory press when they take so long to deal with player issues. Get someone in there who can sort the mess out and have some balls to make hard decisions quickly.

If Liverpool appeal get a bet on the ban being extended to twelve matches.
