You could vote with your feet, but at the clubs where they massively overpay their players there will always be someone to take your place so you’ll just miss out on an afternoons footy and suffer listening to some sky sports commentator droning on and on in the background about absolutely nothing in particular whilst you put your bet on.

Mario Ballotelli is a case in point. I mean this guy is just a prize tool. Would you invite him round for a few beers?

He holds a fireworks display in his bathroom and then wears a T Shirt emblazoned with “why me” on the front so he can reveal it when he scores.

I mean footballers and T-Shirts it makes you cringe. Billy Bremner and Kevin Keegan had the right idea.

Whatever the result of the Suarez case today you have to think that anyone walking around on a football pitch calling out “whassa problem Negro?” has to be seriously out of touch with reality.

And anyone that has to admit that they weren’t actually being blackmailed and has to fess up that the bunch of crap they made up to try and make a court injunction stick has serious issues with how their persona integrates with modern society.

How much longer are we going to put up with this shmuck?

On the other side of the coin I suppose if you put up with the volume of abuse that the modern prima donna has to put up with every week then you are entitled to have a warped sense of reality. At least Cantona had the balls to dish it back in style. None of these “obscene” hand gestures for him

It’s not going to end anytime soon is it? And with the red tops insatiable appetite for a “feature story” there is always going to be someone sitting in the dentists chair or shagging their best mates ex wife when he thinks no one is looking.

The problem isn’t just footballers either. The news today that Keys and Gray are going to take their “Smash it” comedy evening on the road just makes me groan inside. These two dinosaurs of broadcasting still think that the public is up for their “lads banter” and who on earth is advising them?

It won’t go down well I’m telling you. In this day and age football needs to set an example to the up and coming generation because god knows they need it and Keys and Gray are the antithesis of everything modern football should stand for. You could tell me it’s going to be really funny but I have a more than sneaky feeling that by calling it “smash it” it’s simply going to be brash, coarse and a pathetic attempt to pay the mortgage since they lost their expensive sky contracts.

Football at the top level needs to do some serious navel gazing and I think Platini’s financial fair play is a massive step in the right direction. But a lot more needs to be done before the average football fan feels that they are getting value for money and genuine entertainment value.

Prima Donnas and Keys and Gray are just symptoms of the disease pervading british footballing culture and they need to be eradicated for the good of society.
